Does More Foam Mean Cleaner Teeth?
Share
You start brushing. The mint kicks in. The bubbles build. Within seconds, your mouth is full of foam.
It feels reassuring. Something must be working.
But if your toothpaste produced twice as many bubbles, would your teeth end up twice as clean?
No. Foam contributes to the brushing experience, but its volume isn’t a measure of how thoroughly you’ve cleaned your teeth.
The more interesting question is how to get the balance right: toothpaste that spreads as you brush, a satisfying lather, and an amount of foam that feels comfortable.
That’s the thinking behind NovaFoam by NovaTabz™.
Why Foam Feels Like Clean
Shampoo, hand soap, dishwashing liquid—we’re used to seeing bubbles when something is being cleaned.
Toothpaste fits that familiar pattern. The lather gives us something we can feel, while mint adds a fresh sensation. Together, they can make brushing feel thorough before we’ve reached every tooth.
But bubbles don’t tell you whether you cleaned behind your back molars. And that minty feeling doesn’t confirm you’ve given your gumline enough attention.
Foam is part of what makes brushing enjoyable. Technique determines where your brush actually cleans.
What Foaming Agents Actually Do
Toothpaste commonly contains ingredients called surfactants. These help liquids wet and spread across surfaces and help disperse material during cleaning. They also support bubble formation when brushing mixes toothpaste with saliva, water, and air.

So foaming agents have a useful role beyond making your toothpaste look busy.
However, foam volume alone cannot tell you how much plaque you’ve removed, how well a formula protects against cavities, or whether a product suits your mouth. Those questions depend on the complete formulation, how you use it, and the evidence behind it.
More Bubbles Aren’t Always What You Want
Think about the brushing experience you actually enjoy.
You want toothpaste to spread comfortably. You want a pleasant texture and a fresh taste. And you want enough lather to feel satisfying without your mouth feeling overwhelmed.
That balance is personal. Some people enjoy plenty of foam; others prefer less.
The goal shouldn’t be to create the biggest possible mouthful of bubbles. It should be to make those two minutes of brushing feel good while you give every tooth its time.
Introducing NovaFoam by NovaTabz™
When developing NovaTabz™, we wanted switching to tablets to feel easy—and the brushing itself to feel familiar and satisfying.
That meant paying attention to the foam.
Working with industry experts, we developed NovaFoam around three formulation goals: toothpaste distribution, balanced lather, and brushing comfort.
Each one matters to the experience.
1. Toothpaste That Spreads as You Brush
A dry tablet is only the starting point.
Chewing breaks the tablet down and mixes it with saliva. Water from your wet toothbrush helps bring the formula together, while the movement of brushing distributes it across the surfaces you clean.
NovaFoam is designed to fit into that sequence, helping create a brushing mixture that moves with your brush.
2. A Satisfying, Manageable Lather
We wanted NovaTabz™ to deliver a nice foam—the familiar sensation people enjoy in toothpaste—with an amount that feels balanced.
Our idea of the perfect amount is enough lather to make brushing satisfying without letting bubbles take over the experience.
The focus is on how the foam feels and behaves during brushing, rather than how much we can make it expand.
3. Comfort Throughout the Routine
Brushing is something you do every day. The texture, taste, and amount of foam all contribute to whether that routine feels pleasant.
Comfort was therefore part of our formulation goal from the beginning: a lather that accompanies your brushing without overpowering your mouth.
Preferences vary, but the experience we designed for is simple—pleasant foam, a manageable mouthful, and a routine you’re happy to repeat.
The Ingredient Behind the Lather
NovaTabz™ uses sodium cocoyl isethionate, a surfactant that contributes to cleansing and foam formation, instead of sodium lauryl sulfate, commonly known as SLS.
The ingredient is one part of the complete tablet formulation. NovaFoam describes our approach to bringing that formulation and its foaming experience together.
Choosing a foaming agent is only part of the task. How it works within the finished product—and how that product feels when you use it—is what matters to the person holding the toothbrush.
The Right Moment Is When You Brush
There’s no complicated activation ritual.
- Place one NovaTabz tablet in your mouth.
- Chew it into a soft powder.
- Brush with a wet toothbrush for two minutes.
- Spit out the toothpaste.
As the chewed tablet combines with saliva and water, brushing develops the lather. Moving your toothbrush then spreads the mixture where you’re brushing.
That is what we mean by foam at the right moment: a satisfying lather that develops as part of your routine.
Your Toothbrush Still Has Work to Do
Even the most enjoyable foam cannot replace careful brushing.
Clean the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of your teeth. Use gentle pressure, pay attention to the gumline, and clean between your teeth daily.

NovaFoam is about formulation and the brushing experience. Foam alone is not evidence of superior plaque removal or cavity protection.
Small Tablet. Just-Right Foam.
More foam doesn’t automatically mean cleaner teeth. But a thoughtfully developed lather can make brushing feel more enjoyable.
With NovaFoam by NovaTabz™, we’ve focused on the balance we’d want twice a day: toothpaste that spreads as you brush, satisfying foam, and a comfortable experience.
Chew. Brush. Enjoy the lather. Give every tooth its time.
